South of Erie, Pennsylvania, you’ll find the Presque Isle Downs and Casino, which is a facility that includes both a casino and a horse racing track. MTR Gaming Group, the owner of the establishment, began construction on its new facility in October 2005, and it ultimately opened its doors on February 28, 2007. During the month of August in 2007, Simulcasting was moved from its previous location on upper Peach Street and began operations. Located in Summit Township, the property is situated on a plot that spans 272 acres (1.1 km2) and is situated off of Exit 27 on Interstate 90.
Presque Isle Downs History
In September of 2007, Presque Isle Downs played host to its inaugural live meet, which lasted for a total of 25 days. Simulcast racing was initially presented in July of that same year. The Trackside Bar, which is situated on the first floor, presented a state-of-the-art teletheater on May 3, 2008, which featured a multitude of wagering stations for both live and simulcast spectators. Fans of racing may watch and wager on the best racing from across the United States and Canada thanks to the more than two hundred flat-screen televisions that are located between the Downs Clubhouse and the Trackside Bar. The live race meet lasts for a hundred days, from May to September.
