In the Delta Park neighborhood of Portland, Oregon, you’ll find the Portland Meadows community, which spans over one hundred acres. Portland Meadows History
William P. Kyne, who was also responsible for the construction of Bay Meadows Racetrack in San Mateo, California, opened the aforementioned facility on September 14, 1946. Following the destruction of the grandstand by fire in 1970, the track reopened the following year. The grandstand was rebuilt. Portland Meadows had its first-ever Portland Meadows vs. Golden Gate Fields Jockey Challenge in 2009. This event marked the beginning of Wednesday racing at Portland Meadows. In 2012, Portland Meadows took the initiative to host the very first Summer Meet at the track.
