With the official unveiling of the newly rebranded Horseshoe Indianapolis Racing & Casino, Caesars Entertainment raised the stakes in all aspects of entertainment and gaming in the Central Indiana region.

OffTrackBetting.com (OTB) allows you to watch and wager on all of the action that takes place at Horseshoe Indianapolis, which was originally known as Indiana Grand and Indiana Downs. Horseshoe Indianapolis is the only venue in the state of Indiana that hosts live Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing.

Horseshoe Indianapolis History

As part of its 233,000 square foot plot, Horseshoe Indianapolis is a racino that is located twenty minutes southeast of Indianapolis. In addition to the racing track and casino, the racino features a variety of additional restaurants, gift shops, and entertainment venues, including the Grand Buffet. The casino was reconstructed at a cost that was greater than $250 million, and it features 2,300 slot machines in addition to a poker area.

In April of 2021, Horseshoe Indianapolis initiated a substantial improvement and expansion of the property, which resulted in the addition of almost 25,000 square feet of new gaming space. This new gaming space included a live World Series of Poker Room that had twenty tables.

They completed a winterized barn with 105 stalls in 2022, and it will be ready for horses in March of 2023. In 2021, they added a dormitory with fifty rooms for backstretch workers who are responsible for the care of the horses on the premises. The purpose of all of the improvements is to increase the likelihood that horses will remain on the grounds during the offseason.

Between 300 and 350 horses were still present during the winter of 2021-2022, which was the first winter that the track remained open for training throughout the offseason.

It is because of the constant competition for horses in the racing scene that the notion of maintaining a training facility during the winter months came about. In light of the fact that the foal crop in the United States is diminishing on an annual basis, it is of the utmost importance to preserve or grow the field size of horses. Horses that are headquartered in Indiana have historically spent the winter months in locations such as Turfway Park in Kentucky, Oaklawn Park in Arkansas, Fair Grounds in Louisiana, and Tampa Bay Downs in Florida; nevertheless, there are instances in which they do not have the opportunity to return to their home state.

The racecourse was formerly known as Indiana Downs when it first opened its doors in 2002. In 2014, it was renamed Indiana Grand Race Course.

Horseshoe Indianapolis is also the location of the Grade 3 Indiana Derby, which is the most lucrative race in the state of Indiana.
