RG3 Says Commanders’ Playoff Chances Depend on Jayden Daniels Staying Healthy

The similarities between Robert Griffin III and Jayden Daniels are readily visible upon closer inspection.

In his rookie season, Griffin was able to win the honor for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2012, and he did so by galvanizing the Washington team. As a rookie, Daniels was able to revitalize the Commanders, which resulted in him being awarded the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year trophy in 2024 and leading the organization all the way to the NFC championship game. Daniels achieved the same impact.

Accidents and injuries put an end to Griffin’s professional career. The Washington Redskins let him go in March of 2016, after he had suffered a knee injury at the conclusion of his rookie season and a dislocated ankle in 2014.

The former quarterback of the National Football League is holding out hope that Daniels will not suffer the same injury fate. According to him, the Commanders are now on an upward trend, and he believes that a healthy Daniels has the potential to guide the organization to the “promised land.”

However, the most important question that will be asked is whether or not Jayden Daniels will be able to maintain his health. I feel that Washington will return to prominence, and the season would be fantastic provided he is able to maintain his health, which is something that I believe he will do.

Treylon Burks and Van Jefferson, both wide receivers, were traded by the Commanders in order to add some depth to their roster before the start of the season. Within the tight end room, Chig Okonkwo signed a three-year contract in order to strengthen the tight end room.

In light of all of this, as well as the actions that Washington took during the draft, Griffin is of the opinion that it is now Daniels’ responsibility to steer the club to the “promised land.”

All that is left for Jayden Daniels to do is continue to concentrate on maintaining his health while also guiding the boys to the land of promise. Daniels is approaching the end of a 2025 season that was hampered by injuries. RG3 and Jayden Daniels: Teammates?

Coincidentally, Daniels and Griffin could become teammates in the near future.

Daniels has flirted with the idea of possibly playing on Team USA’s flag football team “if the opportunity presents itself.” Griffin recently announced his intentions to try out for Team USA ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

“The No. 1 reason that I want to play for Team USA at the Olympics in ’28 is because of my daughters,” Griffin, who has four daughters, said. “They wanted me to play. When I was playing the NFL, they were too young to really notice.”

Griffin, who’s parents were both in the military, said wearing a Team USA uniform also has special meaning to him.

“The second reason is because I know how much it means to wear USA across your chest, because of my military background, because of what my parents went through, because of the military community. I want to honor my kids (and) I want to honor the military. That’s been the driving force for me wanting to play for Team USA in 2028 at the Olympics.”
