Juan Soto Injury Update: Yankees Star Exits Early With Back Tightness
Juan Soto exited the Mets’ series opener against the Cubs early yesterday night, and the team revealed that he was suffering tightness in his lower left back due to the fact that he was experiencing the discomfort. The National Football League (SNY) played back clips of his at-bats from earlier in the evening, during which he seemed to be in agony after swinging the bat. This occurred after he was taken from the game.
The fact that Francisco Lindor is expected to return as soon as today means that any time that Soto might miss due to the back issue would be an additional cruel twist in the already awful season that the team is having. Lindor and Soto, who are considered to be the two greatest players on the club, have only played together in nine of the 78 games that the team has played so far this season. As a result of a calf injury, Soto was placed on the injured list from April 4 through April 22. Lindor, on the very same day that he returned to the field, sustained an even more severe calf injury, which has prevented him from playing in the major leagues for the past two months.
Soto is said to be on a day-to-day basis with his back soreness, according to the Mets. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this is for real and that he will start to feel better very soon. When the Mets are now 34-44, it is absurd to speculate about the possibility of a comeback in the battle for the Wild Card. However, if their two finest players were on the field at the same moment, it would simply be more pleasurable to watch them play.
