Zach Edey NBA Draft: Player Exits Purdue To Become Pro

Zach Edey NBA Draft is a reality as the Purdue star has chosen to become a pro instead of using the extra year of college eligibility he had available as a consequence of COVID-19.

Edey, the AP Player of the Year and winner of the Wooden Award, went through the NBA Draft process a year ago. He looked at his options and then went back to Purdue.

The 7’4″ center scores 23.7 points per game on 62.7% shooting and grabs 11.8 rebounds per game this season. He has Purdue as the country’s number two team, and he’s on his way to the next round of player of the year awards.

Zach Edey NBA Draft: Leaving College

He is leaving college this time and going into the NBA Draft.

Edey is expected to be picked in the first round of this year’s draft, which is usually seen as a down-class year. Some experts have him going 13th.

Others, however, had him a little lower on their lists but still in the first round.

Because of the COVID pandemic, Edey has one more year of college eligibility, but it looks like that’s not what he wants to do.

NBA Rotational Center

The NBA expects Edey to be a good but old-fashioned rotational center. He’s a big guy who’s gotten better at moving around and footwork since last season, but he doesn’t spread the floor and can’t defend in space if switched on a pick-and-roll.

When thinking of Edey, think of a Plumlee, as that describes how he fits in the NBA.

He can have a long, successful, and well-paid NBA career.

Edey seems ready to leave Purdue and take on his next task in the NBA, no matter what teams think.
