Florida vs South Carolina Betting Prediction

Here is our Florida vs South Carolina Betting prediction and pick.

Florida vs South Carolina Betting Prediction: Gators

Here is the Florida vs South Carolina Betting prediction on the Gators.

The Florida Gators (21-3, 8-3 SEC) will have the opportunity to add another victory after a hard-fought road victory over #22 Mississippi State to maintain their position in the upper echelons of the SEC. They will play the South Carolina Gamecocks (10-13, 0-10 SEC as of this article’s publication) at home for the second time this season, first against Ole Miss and then Florida.

The Gators would love to dominate at home against a club like South Carolina, as they presently sit third in the SEC behind Alabama and Auburn. They have a remote possibility of catching those two teams. South Carolina is already struggling in terms of talent, and a number of injuries have made life in the SEC all but impossible. As a result, they have yet to win in the league and there isn’t much hope for the future. Given that Missouri had a winless SEC season the previous year, there is precedent for a club to lose all of its remaining games, according to KenPom.

The Gators just faced Mississippi State without two starters after Alex Condon sprained his ankle 30 seconds into the game, so injury news will be the main focus of this battle. After being a game-time decision in the last two games, guard Alijah Martin is likely to miss this one, but the Gators will be hoping to get him back into the rotation.

Florida Gators Players to Watch

  • Walter Clayton Jr. averages 3.6 rebounds per game and leads his team in assists (4.0) and points (17.5). He contributes 0.5 blocked shots and 1.3 steals on defense.
  • Alex Condon pulls down a team-high 7.8 rebounds every game. He’s also shooting 50.3% from the field, dishing up 2.3 assists and scoring 10.6 points.
  • Each game, Alijah Martin averages 15.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. Conversely, he records 0.2 blocked shots and 1.9 steals.

Florida vs South Carolina Betting Prediction: Gamecocks

Here is the Florida vs South Carolina Betting prediction on the Gamecocks.

The most agonizing aspect of South Carolina’s winless season, apart from the unfortunate injuries, is that they have been competitive in several of their losses and could have won multiple games if the ball had bounced differently. They lost to Texas A&M by four, Vanderbilt by three, Florida by one, Mississippi State by five (in overtime), and Auburn by three—all games against strong opposition that they could have easily won.

Despite the awful record, KenPom ranks South Carolina as the 78th best team in the nation, which would place them in a respectable position to finish in the lower center of the pack in a few high-major leagues.

The Gators must approach this game with the same degree of attention they have when playing the best teams in the conference because their close games serve as a reminder that they are still a fiercely competitive team that could beat anyone in the SEC on a bad night.

Myles Stute, who has spent a large portion of his career as one of the SEC’s best defenders, has missed nine straight games, which has left a major void on South Carolina’s wing. He won’t likely be available to play against the Gators.

Jamarii Thomas recently returned from injury for South Carolina, which has been a huge assist. One of their best offensive options, the 5’11” guard is scoring 13.1 points per game on average. In the first meeting with Florida, you could see how much his scoring and ball handling were missed. Florida’s scouting report will need to focus on him because he appears to be back into the swing of things after scoring 19, 19, 15, and 11 points in his last four games.

South Carolina Gamecocks Players to Watch

  • In addition to leading the Gamecocks in scoring (15.7 points per game) and rebounding (8.7), Collin Murray-Boyles also contributes 2.5 assists. He also averages 1.4 blocked shots and 1.5 steals.
  • Nick Pringle averages 9.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game for the Gamecocks.
  • With 3.2 assists per game, Jamarii Thomas leads the club. In addition, he is averaging 13.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 37.7% field goals, 36.0% three-pointers, and 1.6 treys per game.
