Florida Panthers Dominate Game 3 vs Frustrated Edmonton Oilers

Brad Marchand is creating history in the National Hockey League at the ripe old age of 37 in the Stanley Cup Final, and his Florida Panthers appear to be well on their way to a second consecutive championship following a convincing 6-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers that was overshadowed by a chaotic fight late in the game.

With two games to one, the Panthers are now in the lead in the best-of-seven series.

A little under a minute into the third game of the season, which took place on Monday night, Marchand made another ding in the scoreboard to get the Panthers’ scoring going. So far in the series, the veteran of the National Hockey League, who has played for sixteen years, has scored four goals.

Marchand also made history by becoming the oldest player to score in each of the first three games of a Stanley Cup Final. This accomplishment cemented his place in the annals of hockey history. Over the course of this postseason, Marchand has accumulated 17 points and has scored eight goals.

Towards the end of the first period, Florida’s Carter Verhaeghe scored a goal on the penalty play, which allowed the Panthers to extend their advantage to 2-0 up to the first intermission.

Within one minute and forty seconds of the restart of play, Corey Perry scored for Edmonton, thereby quickly cutting into Florida’s lead. As the second period came to a close, Florida was leading 4-1. However, the Panthers responded with a pair of goals scored by Sam Reinhart and Sam Bennett, which contributed to the Panthers’ expansion of their advantage.

As of right now, Bennett has scored 14 goals in the postseason, which is the most in the league. He also tied his colleague Marchand with his fourth goal in the championship series and goals in each of the three games.

In the third period, the Panthers continued to pile on with another power play goal, this time scored by Aaron Ekblad.

The Oilers’ emotions reached a boiling point as the game was no longer within their reach. A number of players from Edmonton fired shots at Bennett before Trent Frederic, who was from Edmonton, was punished for breaking his stick over the center’s ribs.

As soon as that happened, the gloves came off, and everyone, with the exception of the goalies, got into a fight in the neutral zone that lasted for a few minutes. It was already eighty minutes of punishment time for the melee by the time the authorities were able to separate all of the players from one another.
