Tennessee vs Vanderbilt Betting Prediction
Here is our Tennessee vs Vanderbilt Betting prediction and pick.
Tennessee vs Vanderbilt Betting Prediction: Volunteers
Here is the Tennessee vs Vanderbilt Betting prediction on the Volunteers.
Under Rick Barnes, Tennessee teams had a tendency to have a strong defense but a weak offense. The Vols are very hard to beat when they can put up a strong offensive performance. It’s not a guarantee, though.
Although Tennessee excels at offensive rebounding, there aren’t many other offensively noteworthy aspects of the Vols. The Commodores kept the Vols off the offensive boards in Vanderbilt’s first victory over Tennessee. In that game, Vanderbilt had 12 offensive rebounds compared to Tennessee’s 8.
Tennessee has only lost to Kentucky in its six SEC home games this season, winning five of them. The Vols have only triumphed twice out of six away games, against Texas and Oklahoma.
Home-road splits at Vanderbilt are similarly sharp. The Commodores have defeated Kentucky and Tennessee in their four of six home games. Out of five road games, they have only triumphed one, against LSU.
Tennessee vs Vanderbilt Betting Prediction: Watch out for Zeigler and Okpara
Although he doesn’t score many points, Zakai Zeigler is the catalyst for Tennessee’s success. Without him, the offense wouldn’t function nearly as well. When Vanderbilt made a run during the first game due to Zeigler’s foul issues, the Vols discovered that. It will be crucial to try to force Zeigler to take lessons or to get him into foul trouble.
The 6-foot-11 Okpara had stature that the Commodores couldn’t match and went 7-for-7 from the field in the first game.
Vanderbilt’s big men had a mixed record in the opening game. The Commodores outscored the Vols when Devin McGlockton was on the court, despite his meager eight points and two rebounds. Despite having 10 rebounds and 14 points, Jaylen Carey had the team’s lowest plus-minus of minus-8.
Volunteers Injuries
- Igor Milicic: It is likely that Milicic is unwell.
- Zakai Zeigler: Zeigler is most likely suffering from a knee injury.
- J.P. Estrella: Due to a foot injury, Estrella is sidelined for the season.

Tennessee vs Vanderbilt Betting Prediction: Commodores
Here is the Tennessee vs Vanderbilt Betting prediction on the Commodores.
The Commodores will face the evil empire out east for the second time this season. In the first meeting, many of us recall that the Commodores dominated the second half and won by double digits for the majority of the game.
With seconds remaining in the game, Vanderbilt had a two-point lead following a last-minute comeback by Tennessee. Nashville’s Chaz Lanier had two shots and an opportunity to level the score when he walked to the free throw line. He made the first stroke but smashed the second, giving the ‘Dores the win. In order to demonstrate to the rest of the nation that Memorial Magic is back and stronger than ever, students and supporters overran the court in Memorial Gym.
Tennessee has played erratically since that game, at times looking like a team that could win the national championship and at other times displaying a lack of offensive production. The voLs (kudos to Tyler Birmingham) just lost to Kentucky on Tuesday, allowing Kentucky to sweep Tennessee in the regular season.
On Saturday, Vanderbilt will travel to Knoxville to play their second of three consecutive games against top-15 opponents. Vandy hopes to strengthen their NCAA Tournament with a significant road victory against Tennessee after suffering a hard-fought 12-point loss to #1 Auburn on Tuesday.
Vanderbilt put out a strong effort and fought through a very poor start on Tuesday, falling down by just two points at halftime and even regaining the lead for around three minutes in the second half after falling behind the nation’s top team by 15 points early on.
However, the highly regarded visitors pushed away in the closing minutes because Auburn’s interior presence and strong outside shooting were too much for the Commodores to handle for 40 minutes. Vanderbilt’s SOS will continue to improve each week, and a non-embarrassing loss to a team as highly regarded as Auburn has benefited them in the Kempom Rankings.
Tennessee vs Vanderbilt Betting Prediction: What to Expect
Despite Kentucky’s dominating performance from behind the arc, Tennessee has been playing its best offensive basketball of the SEC season thus far in these last three games. Given how effective the “pick-and-roll lob” was for the Vols on their trip to Memorial last month, I would anticipate seeing Rick Barnes attempt to force the ball inside early. Additionally, if you watch the video from Tuesday’s Vandy game, Auburn was able to distance itself from the Commodores when Broome was able to establish a steady rhythm.
Even though they shot 48% from beyond the arc during their trip here, this Tennessee club (like most) appears to be far stronger at shooting at home than away. If that shooting percentage increases, the Vols will easily win at home. The two key players on Tennessee’s offense, Zachai Zeigler and Chaz Lanier, will aim to slow down the tempo during this game.
Vanderbilt cannot afford to start 15-0 if they hope to follow Kentucky’s example of sweeping the orange-clad squad out east. The Commodores will need to control the crowd and maintain momentum as shots must fall early. They will be out for blood after what UT fans witnessed in Nashville a few weeks ago. The game will probably be somewhat rough, and the ‘Dores will need to control the fouls. From start to finish, Vanderbilt requires Manon and Carey to be available.
Even if Jason Edwards plays defense with one shoe off, I still think he should play 30 minutes every game! Against a defense like Tennessee, his offensive variety and amazing shot creation are just too significant. In the Mark Byington style of sprinting, Vandy will need to prevent this from becoming a rock fight a la Rick Barnes. Vanderbilt is capable of running with any team in the nation, but their half-court offense struggles because they lack a typical big man to take up space down low.
Additionally, I think we can’t keep using lines that include Huffman, Tanner, Nickel, Manon, and Glock. At this stage of the season, our top three players—AJ, Jason, and Jaylen—should be on the court at all times, barring foul trouble. Even Jaylen and Glock being in at the same time doesn’t bother me.
I think the Commodores have the inventive defense and shooting skill to sweep the Vols if Vanderbilt can maintain the pace throughout the game despite any extended scoring stretches (we have seen several on the road this season). All the Dores need to do is make the shots and avoid foul trouble.
Commodores Injuries
- Alex Hemenway: Hemenway has an undisclosed relationship.
- Tyler Nickel is out, and it’s likely that Nickel has an ankle injury.
