Houston vs Arizona Betting Prediction: Cougars
Here is the Houston vs Arizona Betting prediction on the Cougars.
Despite not frequently playing players taller than six feet eight, Houston has one of the nation’s top offensive rebounding teams and one of the greatest rim defenses. How does one accomplish all of this without being large?
Aside from the final UH squad Arizona supporters would have witnessed, the 2021–22 squad, which had a 6–10 record, All of Kelvin Sampson’s top UH teams have functioned without a lot of conventional size, with Josh Carlton starting at the five. Basketball writer Will Warren conducted a thorough analysis of how UH has constructed outstanding defensive and shot-blocking teams with little height, and the staff has specifically prioritized wingspan in their roster development.
J’Wan Roberts is the athlete that most exemplifies the outstanding work that UH’s staff continues to perform in identifying underutilized talent, even as a recurrent winner. He was a 3-star prospect who redshirted his first season in the program and finished just outside the national top 250. Even though Roberts was shorter than most, it was always clear that he had a knack for blocking shots and offensive glass. Within 15 feet of the hoop, Roberts has developed a fairly strong offensive game over the past two seasons.
However, current Cougar starting center JoJo Tugler is the likely destination for Sampson’s wingspan aim. In contrast to Roberts, Tugler was a 4-star recruit by consensus and, although listed at 6-8, has a wingspan of 7-6. Although Tugler’s attacking game is still a little raw, he is nevertheless “ahead of schedule” in comparison to Roberts and his predecessors. Ja’vier Francis, the third big man who will play a lot of minutes for the Coogs, is a 7-5 wingspan player who appears to have improved offensively from his prior seasons and is still a solid shot blocker and offensive rebounder. Tugler replaced Francis as the starting center.
Senior forward J’Wan Roberts has averaged 15.5 points over the last four games, while senior guard LJ Cryer has averaged 17.2 points over the last five. Are there other people who may be the go-to scorers, or has that pair begun to establish themselves?
It’s funny that you bring up J’Wan Roberts and LJ Cryer. I believe that even a few years ago, if you had asked UH supporters if they believed that J’Wan would be anything more than an average offensive player, they would have said no. He has been the go-to person this year. In the game at UCF, it was him who made the game-winning basket.
The previous four, in my opinion, have forced LJ Cryer to be the guard group’s go-to man. Emmanuel Sharp, the team’s greatest pure shooter, was obviously playing hurt for the previous two or three weeks and missed the last two games due to an injury. He played ten minutes in twenty-four minutes when he returned from a week away against Baylor. Sharp could be the player that lights up the scoresheet if he plays the number of minutes he usually does, but Cryer can definitely go off.
Cougars Players to Watch
- J’wan Roberts shoots 54.5% from the field and averages 11.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists a game on the hardwood.
- In addition to shooting 44.3% from the field and 39.0% from three-point range, with 1.3 made 3-pointers per game, Uzan averages 10.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.
- This season, Cryer averages 14.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. He also shoots 39.2% from the field and 41.0% from beyond the arc, making 2.8 3-pointers a game.
- Joseph Tugler is averaging 5.8 points, 1.0 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game from an offensive perspective.

Houston vs Arizona Betting Prediction: Wildcats
Here is the Houston vs Arizona Betting prediction on the Wildcats.
It’s time to predict. Does Houston remain undefeated on the road and give itself some breathing room in the standings, or does Arizona defend its home court and force another tie at the top of the Big 12 standings?
According to KenPom, the Cougars is winning it 70-68. I do believe it will fall inside that range. It goes without saying that I will choose the Cougars 73-68 as I sit here wearing my Charlie Hustle UH sweater. Either side could win this game, in my opinion. The Wildcats winning this game in the same 73-68 range wouldn’t surprise me.
