How The Nuggets Won Their First Title
The Nuggets dominated the Suns in six games despite their history of chokes to go to the Western Conference Finals. In the following four games, Denver dominated the Lakers in the Conference Finals, giving the Nuggets a lead against the Heat in the NBA Finals.
Unsurprisingly, Denver continued to play exceptionally well.
Denver proved to be beaten in Game 2, losing to the Heat 111-108, but the Nuggets responded with a decisive victory in Game 3 at home against Miami, and they have been dominant ever since. The Nugs’ postseason journey came to an end at Ball Arena with a victory.
The undisputed MVP of the NBA Finals, Jokic, was amusing when he answered questions about wanting to finish the job and go home.
NBA Finals History
The Philadelphia Warriors defeated the Chicago Stags in a best-of-seven series, winning four games to one, to usher in the NBA championship as we know it today. Soon after, the Lakers launched a championship dynasty that persisted until the middle of the 1950s, when the fiercer Celtics dynasty took its place. For the majority of the 1980s and 1990s, Boston and LA would compete before Michael Jordan’s Bulls took over.
The Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy, named for former commissioner Larry O’Brien, who mediated the ABA-NBA merger, is given to the club that wins the final series. After O’Brien retired in 1984, the championship trophy bears his name.
The NBA Finals Most Valuable Player is awarded the Bill Russell Trophy, which was first presented in 1969.
Last 10 NBA Championship Winners
Year | Winning Team | Preseason Odds To Win Title | Opponent In Finals | Series |
---|---|---|---|---|
2023 | Denver Nuggets | +1800 | Miami Heat | 4-1 |
2022 | Golden State Warriors | +900 | Boston Celtics | 4-2 |
2021 | Milwaukee Bucks | +550 | Phoenix Suns | 4-2 |
2020 | Los Angeles Lakers | +450 | Miami Heat | 4-2 |
2019 | Toronto Raptors | +1850 | Golden State Warriors | 4-2 |
2018 | Golden State Warriors | -187 | Cleveland Cavaliers | 4-0 |
2017 | Golden State Warriors | -128 | Cleveland Cavaliers | 4-1 |
2016 | Cleveland Cavaliers | +280 | Golden State Warriors | 4-3 |
2015 | Golden State Warriors | +2800 | Cleveland Cavaliers | 4-2 |
2014 | San Antonio Spurs | +1200 | Miami Heat | 4-1 |
The Warriors unquestionably established a dynasty during this time; they have advanced to the NBA Finals six times in the past ten seasons and won four of the previous ten titles. Seeing the Dubs at negative money in the 2017 and 2018 preseasons is a little surreal, but that’s just pure domination.
With the Bucks winning their second title in as many years and the Raptors and Nuggets earning their first, new teams have recently broken through to the NBA Finals. Going forward, more variance is undoubtedly in store, but the perennial favorites will always have a chance to win the Larry O’Brien trophy.
NBA Teams With The Most Championships
Team | NBA Titles | NBA Finals Appearances | Most Recent NBA Title |
---|---|---|---|
Los Angeles Lakers | 17 | 32 | 2020 |
Boston Celtics | 17 | 22 | 2008 |
Golden State Warriors | 7 | 12 | 2022 |
Chicago Bulls | 6 | 6 | 1998 |
San Antonio Spurs | 5 | 6 | 2014 |
Philadelphia 76ers | 3 | 9 | 1983 |
Detroit Pistons | 3 | 7 | 2004 |
Miami Heat | 3 | 6 | 2013 |
New York Knicks | 2 | 8 | 1973 |
Milwaukee Bucks | 2 | 3 | 2021 |
Both clubs are in a great position to contend for the next NBA title, so keep an eye on this rivalry race. The Lakers and Celtics are tied for the most titles, but Boston is considerably more effective, winning 17 of 22 Finals appearances. The Warriors have won four titles in the last 10 years, but the Bulls are the most successful, having won six crowns in the 1990s.
NBA Teams That Have Never Been To The Finals
Los Angeles Clippers | 49 | Western Conference Final (2021) |
Charlotte Hornets/Bobcats | 30 | Eastern Conference Semifinals (1993, 1998, 2001, 2002) |
Minnesota Timberwolves | 29 | Western Conference Final (2004) |
Vancouver/Memphis Grizzlies | 23 | Western Conference Final (2013) |
New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans | 17 | Western Conference Semifinals (2008, 2018) |
What a depressing roster of teams. I apologize in advance to those of you who root for these teams; your team most likely won’t be ending the curse this season. But never say never! Both the Clippers and the Pelicans have had thrilling recent runs, and we all want them to succeed in the end.

NBA Futures Explained
Futures are long-term wagers on events that typically happen during the playoffs or at the conclusion of the regular season. Examples include wagering on the outcome of the NBA Finals, the winners of the Eastern and Western Conferences, the winner of Most Valuable Player, and the number of games a team wins in the regular season. NBA futures betting, to put it briefly, is concentrated on the most significant individual and team accomplishments each year.
When placing effective futures bets, timing is crucial. The larger the winnings are in the event that you win the wager, the sooner you get on the action. The longer you wait to place a futures wager, though, the more NBA betting lines and pertinent news you’ll have to review; in the end, it’s up to you to determine if a futures option has sufficient potential at its current price!
NBA Championship Betting Odds: How to Read Them
The likelihood of winning the NBA Championship will change during the season, as previously said. Even the top-ranked teams may have odds of three times or more prior to the regular season! The biggest odds for favorites typically peak at the beginning of the season and decrease when strong performances are demonstrated!
The greater the odds, just like with any other wager, the greater the final payment. These odds fluctuate following practically every game, so it’s critical to comprehend how to wager in order to take advantage of the best value options. If you wish to continue placing regular-season wagers, remember that championship bets will deplete your bankroll until the end of the season, so make sure you have the cash flow to support these picks.
