Las Vegas Raiders Betting: How to Bet on this Team
Now on this Las Vegas Raiders Betting page, let’s check out the different ways in which you can place a bet on this team:
Moneyline
The moneyline is the most basic of bets, determined by the game’s straight-up winner and loser. Consider the following scenario:
- Raiders +185
- Steelers -130
The Raiders are the underdogs in this game (indicated by +185), paying out a total of $285 for a $100 bet ($185 in winnings). The Steelers are the spread favorites in this game, with a $130 bet required to win $100. In moneyline betting, it makes no difference how much one team wins or loses; the payout remains the same.
Point Spread
Betting on the point spread determines how many points a team will win or lose. Consider the following example:
- Raiders -2.5 (-110)
- Eagles +2.5 (-110)
Las Vegas is favored by 2.5 points in this example, as indicated by “-2.5.” If the Raiders win the game 24-21, for example, the Raiders (-2.5) win the bet and have a total payout of $10 on a $11 bet. If the Eagles keep the game within three points and lose 21-20, the Eagles (+2.5) win and the payout remains the same.
Point total (over/under)
The point total is the over/under line set by the books. This number forecasts the total number of points scored in a game and, like prop betting, is used to predict whether the score will go over or under a predetermined point total.
A Raiders game against the Cleveland Browns, for example, had a projected point total of 50.5 points. Las Vegas won that game 16-6, despite scoring only 22 points. Those who bet less than the point total would have won that week.
The Raiders defense struggled this season, frequently forcing vegas to shootouts; they had point totals of 72, 71, and 66 points this season. As a result of this (and Vegas’ ability to score in chunks at times), the Raiders frequently saw higher projected point totals, typically between 54 and 58 points per week.

Las Vegas Raiders Brief History
The team had its origins back in 1960 when it became part of the AFL. And 10 years later, they became an official member of the NFL after the two leagues merged. They started performing terribly, and that trend continued for their first 3 professional seasons, leading to poor game attendance, and also to poor finances.
But in 1967, after some improvement efforts, the team managed to make it to the playoffs for the first time. And they would go on to acquire their first and only AFL title that very same year. This allowed them to advance to Super Bowl II, where they got defeated by the Packers.
Dating back to 1963, the Raiders have won 15 division titles, 1 AFL title, and 3 Super Bowl Championships. At the end of the 2018 NFL season, the Raiders had a season record of 466 wins, 423 losses, and 11 ties. And their postseason record as of now consists of 25 victories and 19 defeats.
The Raiders moved from Oakland to Los Angeles from 1982 to 1994, and they made it back to Oakland in 1995. And, on March 2017, all NFL owners approved the Raiders’ relocation to Las Vegas, a move that’s planned to take place in 2020, after the completion of Allegiant Stadium. This is a team that enjoys big popularity, with an intense fan base that spans all over the world.
Las Vegas Raiders Team Rivalries
This is a team that has rivalries mostly with its divisional foes, the Chiefs, the Broncos, and the Chargers. But they also hold historical rivalries with the Steelers, Patriots, Jets, and the 49ers.
Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City is the top divisional rival for the Raiders, and they have engaged in very memorable games since their early AFL days. The Chiefs are the series leaders, with a current record of 64-53-2, and they are the only team in the AFC West that Oakland has a losing record against. In fact, the Raiders have defeated the Chiefs just twice since 2012.
Denver Broncos
These are the second top divisional rivals for Oakland. And there’s a good reason for this: they’ve been playing each other twice a year since their AFL inception. The all-time series is led by the Raiders with a record of 63-53-2. With that said, the Broncos were far superior for more than a decade, from 1995 until 2008, winning 21 out of 28 meetings during that time.
Los Angeles Chargers
This is a rivalry that was born in 1963 when the Raiders managed to take down the Chargers twice in come-from-behind wins. And it’s the Raiders the ones that hold an overall series advantage at 63-54-2.
