Texas Rangers Part Ways With Veteran During MLB All-Star Break Roster Move
Texas Rangers release veteran infielder Jonah Bride during All-Star break
The Texas Rangers made a notable roster move during the MLB All-Star break, granting veteran infielder Jonah Bride his release from the organization after spending the entire 2026 season at Triple-A Round Rock.
Bride, 30, signed a minor league contract with Texas last November but never received a call-up to the majors. Despite that, he turned in a productive season with the Express, batting .271 with 9 home runs, 16 doubles, 46 RBIs, and posting an impressive .389 on-base percentage across 80 games.
One of the more encouraging aspects of Bride’s season was his plate discipline. He recorded an 18.2% strikeout rate and 16% walk rate, both better than league average, while producing a .271/.389/.418 slash line. Even in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, his offensive production rated above average, making the decision to release him somewhat surprising.
Bride has appeared in the majors over the past four seasons with the Athletics, Miami Marlins, and Minnesota Twins, offering defensive versatility by playing first base, third base, and corner outfield.
Now a free agent, Bride is eligible to sign with any MLB organization and could quickly attract interest from clubs seeking experienced infield depth for the second half of the season.
