Dodgers Injury Update: Will Smith Out Again Wednesday as Injured List Move Looms

Since the Dodgers’ victory over the Angels by a score of 1-0 in a walk-off game on Friday, Will Smith has not participated in any of the team’s games. After missing the final two games of the weekend series, he was unable to participate in the Dodgers’ 12-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday. He was also unable to play throughout the game.

For the fourth game in a row, which will take place on Wednesday, Smith will not be able to participate in the game because of neck stiffness, which has been the cause of his absence as of late.According to Maddie Lee of the Los Angeles Times, there is a possibility that Smith will spend some time on the injured list. However, before the team decides what the next step will be, the catcher will go through a full day of training.

It is still a circumstance that occurs on a daily basis, Roberts stated. When it comes to me, however, I would prefer that he complete a full day of work before he plays. This is something that I have discussed with him and with the trainers. As a result, [Wednesday] would most likely be eliminated from consideration. And after that, we’ll pretty much proceed from there.”

Dalton Rushing has been a reliable alternative behind home plate in his absence, and he has performed admirably in that role. Rushing has a batting average of.455 (5-11) with a home run and three runs batted in over the three games that he has played without Smith. On Sunday, he had a performance that included four hits. Throughout the course of this year, Rushing has unquestionably demonstrated that he is capable of meeting the expectations that were placed upon him concerning his availability at any time.

Mookie Betts has had his moments since being pushed down to cleanup in the lineup on May 26, including a game in which he hit two home runs on that day, but overall, he has continued to sink further and deeper into a slump that has lasted throughout the season.
