Jalen Williams, Dylan Harper Injury Updates: MRI Results After Thunder vs Spurs Game 2 Raise Doubts for Game 3

Dylan Harper, a rookie guard for the Spurs, and Jalen Williams, a top player for the Thunder, both were unable to extend their participation in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals due to what seems to be hamstring problems. Both players were major contributors for their respective teams in Game 1.
An MRI is scheduled to be performed on both of them, according to Tim MacMahon and Michael C. Wright of ESPN. The future of both of them in Game 3 and throughout the rest of the series is one that is still up in the air.

As a result of a left hamstring strain, Williams was unable to participate in six Thunder playoff games, including two games against the Suns and the entire series against the Lakers. This leg was the one that required treatment once more. Following a performance in Game 1 that resulted in 26 points and seven rebounds, Williams was on the court for only seven minutes in Game 2 before leaving the game to receive treatment on the bench for a time. After returning to the locker room, Williams was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the evening.

It has been a season that has been plagued by injuries for Williams, who was selected to the All-NBA team the previous year and was an essential component of Oklahoma City’s drive to the championship. However, Williams has only participated in 33 games this season due to his rehabilitation from wrist surgery and then a right hamstring strain.
Harper, a rookie with the Spurs, had a breakout performance in Game 1 by starting in place of De’Aaron Fox, who was sidelined with an ankle injury. He achieved 24 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and seven steals. On the other hand, he appeared to have suffered an injury to his right hamstring, which caused him to leave the game in the third quarter of Game 2 and not return.

The absence of Harper as a ball-handler, in addition to Fox’s absence from both games in this series due to ongoing ankle soreness after rolling it in the previous series against Minnesota, has placed a significant amount of pressure on Stephon Castle as the primary ball-handler and shot-creator against an elite defensive team in Oklahoma City. As a consequence of this, Castle has committed twenty turnovers in the two games that have been played in this Western Conference Finals.After the conclusion of Game 2, Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson remarked about the Thunder, “They turn you over.” “So when you’re down some of your primary creators and initiators, it causes a little bit of an extra strain, whether that’s who to play, what to play, what to run, etc. It’s tough fully loaded against these guys.”

It is expected that we will have formal word on Harper and Williams as we get closer to the start of Game 3, which will take place on Friday night in San Antonio (the game will begin at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time, and it will be broadcast on NBC or streamed on Peacock).

On the other hand, it is highly improbable that either Harper or Williams will participate in Game 3, and it is possible that their fate for the remainder of the series is uncertain.
