The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight knockout artists Dominick Reyes and Johnny Walker will go to war this next weekend (Saturday, April 11, 2026) inside the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, for the event known as UFC 327.

The improbable resurgence of Reyes ended in tragedy back in September of 2025, when Carlos Ulberg’s crisp punches immediately erased the former championship challenger’s three-fight victory streak (re-live that here). Reyes’s resurgence ended in disaster. There is no shame in losing to a competitor who is ranked among the top five, but the knockout appeared to indicate that Reyes will not be competing again at this juncture in his career (right?!?!?). On the other hand, it is always difficult to get a read on Walker, who is the most prominent glass cannon in the division. At this point in his career, Walker has been on the losing end of quite a few highlight videos, despite the fact that he is usually considered to be the most dominant player in the division (albeit he does not always win or lose in dramatic fashion).

Reyes is a striker who plays the Southpaw position. As a result of his lanky athleticism and the fact that he provides a twofold threat, he is able to successfully combine the left kick with the left straight. In his prime, he was also capable of adeptly constructing combinations. Without a doubt, the counter left hand is his most effective move. Reyes is able to persuade his opponents to run directly onto that plant left hand on a frequent basis.

He has won ten of his matches through knockout.

These are two fighters who rely on their physical attributes in addition to their technical improvement in order to compete effectively. As a consequence of this, they will be competing on a more level playing field, and the fundamentals will become more significant. There is a significant difference between the two: Reyes’ boxing makes a lot more logic and builds well, whereas Walker’s boxing is more like throwing s—t at the wall until something enormous lands.

What are the ways that Reyes can benefit? It would be interesting to see him try to move past Walker’s kicking range while also engaging in double jabbing. In an ideal scenario, he would be able to herd Walker against the fence, which is a very susceptible position for the Brazilian in the past. If Reyes is patient with his pressure and footwork, he should be able to line up a powerful left hand on the kicker who is significantly taller and longer than he is.

Walker possesses a rather peculiar assortment of abilities. Walker’s actual boxing is kind of non-existent, a hole that is often disguised under the dazzle of spinning backfists and flying kicks. He certainly possesses strength, but his actual boxing game is not very impressive. On the other hand, he is actually pretty accomplished on the canvas. He is a brown belt in jiu-jitsu and is able to wrestle more successfully than many of his colleagues who weigh 205 pounds. This is an unusual statement to make given that his early losses in the UFC were due to his difficulties in defensive wrestling.

Who among these two men is the more resilient of the two? I am completely clueless. Due to relatively short connections, we have witnessed both of them swiftly reaching a plateau. Walker, on the other hand, has at least shown a greater capacity to fire back in the face of significant force, whereas Reyes appeared to be completely uneasy when confronted by Ulberg’s offensive in the most recent game. I am not suggesting that Walker engage in a fight and run into that left, but I do recommend that he press Reyes and make an effort to make him feel uncomfortable right off the bat.

It would be great if Walker could vary his offensive approach. He should be actively kicking into the open side, attempting to clinch and elbow, and fluctuating between different levels in order to make takedown attempts. Because he is switching things up, he is increasing the likelihood that Reyes would hesitate, which might result in the fight being over before it even starts.

Given that a single blow may eliminate any of the two men, there is no reason to have an excessive amount of confidence in the result of this situation. Having said that, I am unable to make up my mind about how timid Reyes appeared in his most recent appearance. There is no way that Walker can compare to Ulberg in terms of precision; yet, he does have a comparable build and a similar level of fury behind his shots. A similarly lopsided result is what I anticipate happening in the event that Reyes does not show up with his mind in the game.

But if he does? On the other hand, the war is not yet over. I have no faith in either of these men. Instead of picking a knockout on either side, I’m going to make a prediction that we get an odd tall guy kickboxing bout in which neither side rushes into the counter. This is because they don’t have to chase each other to land, therefore they don’t have to compete against each other.

If this is the case, then Walker is the kicker who has a somewhat more varied repertoire and has defeated more formidable opponents in recent years.
