Team USA Defeats Joe Burrow’s Wildcats in Fanatics Flag Football Classic
Joe Burrow, the quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals, showed some promise on March 21 during the Fanatics Flag Football Classic at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. Fortunately, he was not hurt.
However, Burrow’s Wildcats FFC squad lost 39–14 to the quick and skilled squad USA flag football club.
After that, Team USA defeated Tom Brady’s Founders FFC team 43–16.
Odell Beckham, Jr., Saquon Barkley, and Davante Adams all received touchdown passes from Burrow during the Wildcats’ victory over the Founders in their second game.
Team USA defeated the Wildcats 24-14 in the tournament’s championship game, earning them a rematch.
Earlier this week, Burrow, a team co-captain for the first event, was asked if he would think about playing flag football when it debuts at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
“I’ve always wanted to play in the Olympics,” Burrow declared. “I’ve considered the possibility of winning a gold medal for a very long time, ever when I was a young child. I believe it would be quite unique.
During his appearance on “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon” to talk about the flag football game, former NFL great Tom Brady issued a message to Burrow and Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels was a Heisman Trophy winner for the LSU Tigers, just like Burrow.
“I said, ‘You know, I love beating Heisman Trophy winners,'” said Brady. “As the 199th pick, I always aimed directly at the people who were selected far earlier than me. “Talk that you-know-what,” they said. “Go ahead and do it.”
Sean Payton was the coach and Brady and Jalen Hurts were the captains of Founders FFC. Burrow and Daniels served as Wildcats FFC’s captains, while Kyle Shanahan served as its coach.
The games were played on a 50×25-yard field with two 15-minute halves and a running clock, according to modified Olympic-style flag football regulations.
