March Madness 2026 Women’s Tournament: Sunday Games, Key Players & Top Seeds to Watch
Sunday marks the continuation of the second round of competition in the NCAA women’s tournament, which will determine which teams will move on to the Sweet 16 round.
On Sunday, the top-seeded Texas team will take the court, while the second-seeded Michigan and LSU teams will host the seventh-seeded LSU and Michigan teams respectively.
Maryland’s matchup against North Carolina, Ole Miss’s matchup against Minnesota, and Michigan State’s matchup against Oklahoma are three of the matchups that could prove to be the most exciting of the day.

- 2 p.m.: No. 5 Mississippi vs. No. 4 Minnesota (ESPN)

Must-see: Baylor vs. Duke
During the first game of the season, the Blue Devils were defeated by the Bears by a score of 58-52 in the Oui-Play event held in Paris. However, Baylor finished in third place in the Big 12 conference, while Duke went on to win the ACC. After falling behind No. 11 Nebraska by a score of 53-48 with five minutes remaining in their first-round game, the Bears were able to recover and advance by a score of 67-62. As this was going on, Duke handily defeated Charleston by a score of 81-64.
Must-skip: Washington vs. TCU
It is possible that this will be the most lopsided clash on Sunday. South Dakota State, ranked eleventh, was upset by the Huskies in a decisive manner in the first round. However, they had a difficult time competing in the Big Ten throughout the regular season, while the Horned Frogs were victorious in the Big 12 conference. On Friday, TCU defeated UC San Diego by a score of 86-40.
In addition, Washington granted South Dakota State University forward Brooklyn Meyer the opportunity to score 29 points, which may be a good sign for TCU’s Marta Suarez, who averaged 17.4 points during the regular season.
Most likely upset: Texas Tech vs. LSU
If a No. 5 team wins against a No. 4 team, would this be considered a true upset? As an alternative, let’s take a look at one of the 7-2 bouts. However, after suffering a defeat at the hands of Kansas State in the Big 12 conference championship, Texas Tech qualified for the NCAA tournament. And the Red Raiders had a difficult time defeating Villanova in their first-round game, which they won by a score of 57-52.
However, Texas Tech is a battle-tested team from the Big 12 conference, and the most significant disadvantage that Texas Tech has versus LSU is that it has lost to its fiercest rivals, South Carolina and Texas. There is a possibility that Bailey Maupin will be a challenge for the Tigers’ defense. Through the course of the season, she led the Red Raiders in scoring with 17 points, including 17 points against Villanova.
Players to watch
Michigan G Olivia Olson vs. NC State
On Sunday, the NCAA women’s tournament, Olivias have the potential to dominate the competition. During the third quarter of the Wolfpack’s triumph over Tennessee, Zoe Brooks of NC State suffered a foot injury and did not return to the game until the fourth quarter. Saturday was the first day of practice for her, and coach Wes Moore has stated that her status for the game versus Michigan is unknown. It is possible that Olson will have a successful day if he does not have to worry about Brooks on defense. Averaging 18.9 points per game, the sophomore guard was the leading scorer for the Wolverines.
TCU G Olivia Miles vs. Washington
Over the course of the game against UC San Diego, Miles played a supporting role to his backcourt partner Taylor Bigby, who collected 27 points. On the other hand, she did rack up a triple-double by scoring 12 points, grabbing 16 rebounds, and dishing out 14 assists. If Bigby continues to be a hot player, Miles might be content to resume his role as a playmaker. The fact that Bigby is likely to receive more defensive attention as a result of her breakout performance, however, may allow Miles to have a more productive scoring night.
