Kenneth Walker III Becomes First RB in 28 Years to Win Super Bowl MVP
Kenneth Walker III who won the Super Bowl MVP award is planning to enter free agency.
When the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots by a score of 29-13 on Sunday night, Walker finished off a productive postseason with another impressive performance on the ground. This victory helped the Seahawks win the championship.
While the defense carried Seattle for a significant portion of the postseason, Walker was once again the engine of the offense. He rushed for 135 yards and added 26 receiving yards for his third consecutive 100-yard game from scrimmage in the postseason. Walker became the first running back to win Super Bowl MVP since Terrell Davis, who did so 28 years ago.
The statement was made by Walker, who stated, “If I would have told myself as a kid right now, I would not have guessed that I would have been the one to win MVP.” “This is a moment that is out of this world, and it would not be possible without the guys in the locker room.”
Walker improved his performance after his teammate Zach Charbonnet suffered a knee injury that ended his season. This development could not have occurred at a more opportune moment for Walker, nor could it have come at a more crucial time for the Seahawks.
Walker, who is 25 years old and is currently in the final year of his rookie deal, is scheduled to become a free agency in 2026. As a result of his success in the playoffs, Walker is certain to receive a large increase in his salary.
He became the first player to top 100 yards from scrimmage in every playoff game for a Super Bowl champion since Terrell Davis did it in back-to-back seasons for the Broncos in 1997-1998. Walker went on to record 413 yards from scrimmage in the three victories that Seattle has achieved this playoffs.
According to Walker, “It means a lot to me, and I know that it means a lot to my teammates.” “It means a lot to me,” Walker stated. Throughout the course of the season, we encountered a great deal of difficulty. What a blessing it is that you have been able to make it thus far, with all of the noise. As a group, we are aware that the only thing that is significant is the content that is discussed within the company. Therefore, we choose to disregard all of the noise that comes from the outside. We remained a unit throughout the entire season, and as a result, we were able to win the Super Bowl.
Adding to the sweetness of the situation was the fact that his father was present to witness him for the very first time in the National Football League. Walker stated that his father frequently visits Seattle, but he says that he does not attend games because of the large crowds.
But Walker stated that his agent was successful in persuading his father to attend on Sunday, and he was able to see his son’s success.
“I could not have imagined that he would show up,” Walker remarked. “In the end, they humiliated him and did everything else. He was forced to step outside of his comfort zone.”
Even though fantasy football owners and Walker were occasionally irritated by the fact that he did not carry a larger load of the offense, particularly in the red zone, during the regular season, the job sharing with Charbonnet did ensure that Walker was able to come into the playoffs feeling refreshed, which was when he was performing at his best.
Walker had his first season since his rookie year in which he rushed for 1,000 yards, but he only averaged less than 15 touches from scrimmage per game throughout the regular season.
However, during the playoffs, he shown that he is capable of being a bell-cow back by averaging nearly 25 touches per game across the board.
According to receiver Cooper Kupp, “When Charbs goes down, everyone was hurting for him because he is an instrumental part of this team.” “For (Walker) to be able to shoulder the load and step up his game to another level, I am so proud of him,” Kupp added for Walker.
Walker got off to a quick start by rushing for ten yards on the first snap of the game. Later in the first half, he gained 55 yards on the ground on a field-goal drive, which was the most yards on the ground by any player on a single drive in the Super Bowl in the past twenty years.
