Drake Maye Turnovers Cost Patriots in Super Bowl Loss to Seahawks
During the Patriots’ Super Bowl loss to the Seahawks, Drake Maye’s turnover problems manifested themselves once more at the most inopportune moment.
In spite of the fact that Super Bowl 60 was hardly the best example of quarterback performance by any stretch of the imagination, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye had a particularly challenging evening.
Maye and the Patriots were unable to score over the first three quarters and change of the game, and even a pair of late touchdown drives were not quite enough to give the Seattle Seahawks a significant concern.
In the most important game of the National Football League season, Maye was under to persistent pressure from the Seahawks’ defense, which ultimately resulted in three turnovers.

During the Patriots’ loss in Super Bowl 60, Maye was responsible for three turnovers, including two interceptions and a sack that resulted in the loss of the ball. It was in the second half of the game that Maye committed all three of her losses.

During the last minute of the third quarter, Maye was taken out of the game by Derick Hall. This occurred while the Patriots were attempting to convert on a third-and-6 just short of the midfield line. There was a breakdown in the pocket, and Byron Murphy II recovered it, allowing the Seahawks to take control of the situation with excellent field position. Hall came in and grabbed Maye from the right side of the field.
The Seahawks extended their lead from 12-0 to 19-0 by scoring their first touchdown of the evening on a pass from Sam Darnold to AJ Barner. This occurred five plays after the Seahawks established their advantage.
Julian Love executed the interception.
It was as the Patriots were approaching midfield with lots of time left and behind by 12 that they made their most significant attempt to get back into the game in the second half. However, that opportunity was abruptly stopped by an interception made by Seahawks safety Julian Love.
It appeared like Maye had a misunderstanding of the defense, as he threw an easy interception to Love. Love was able to put together a strong return and put Seattle in territory that was previously occupied by the Patriots. The Seahawks would capitalize on the opportunity to score three points, so increasing their advantage from fifteen to twelve points.
Performer Uchenna Nwosu’s pick-six
Maye appeared to be stripped by Devon Witherspoon during the next drive for New England, but Uchenna Nwosu recovered the ball and ran it back for a defensive score. This drive turned out to be a complete and utter failure for New England.
Nwosu, who can consider the touchdown to be the most memorable event of his football career, altered the play from a strip-sack to a pick-six after it was determined that the play was more closely examined. The Seahawks were able to effectively end the game with the touchdown, which extended their lead to 29-7.
There is no doubt that statistics do not tell the whole story. Maye had only completed eight of his eighteen passes for sixty yards by the end of the third quarter. Maye’s statistics improved as a result of a stronger fourth quarter, which also included two interceptions that contributed to the Seahawks’ overall success and helped them win the championship.
With a better fourth quarter included, Maye finished with 295 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to his three turnovers, and he also rushed for 37 yards. This was despite the fact that the Patriots attempted to play catch-up but were unsuccessful.
