Fans of football from all over the world tuned in to watch Super Bowl 60 on Sunday night. The game featured a rematch between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, which had previously taken place eleven years ago.

Both teams engaged in a defensive fight throughout the first three quarters of the game, with Seattle maintaining a 12-0 advantage until the fourth quarter, when they scored 30 points altogether among themselves. The first touchdown for New England came early in the fourth quarter, and it was scored by Drake Maye and Mack Hollins, both of whom had previously played for the University of North Carolina.

Despite the fact that Maye and Hollins were unsuccessful in their first Super Bowl appearances, an other former Tar Heel was victorious in his first trip to the Super Bowl.

Chazz Surratt, a former quarterback who switched to linebacker and played at North Carolina from 2017 to 2020, was a member of the Seattle Seahawks’ first Super Bowl-winning team since 2013.

In spite of the fact that Surratt did not accomplish anything statistically, the Seahawks brought him back off injured reserve a few days before the Big Game. Even though Surratt played largely on special teams for Seattle, he still managed to record 11 tackles in 11 regular season games for the Seahawks.

During the 2017 season, Surratt was at quarterback for Larry Fedora, where he started seven of the nine games he participated in. He finished the season with 1,341 passing yards and eight touchdowns. The following year, Surratt redshirted after accumulating 210 running yards and five further touchdowns on the ground.

When Surratt returned to the field in 2019, he performed exceptionally well, earning a spot on the First Team of All-ACC and finished in second place for ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Surratt finished as a semifinalist for the Bronco Nagurski Trophy, which is awarded to the finest linebacker in football, during the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign offered by UNC.

Surratt started his career in the National Football League with the New York Jets, a team that maintains a dysfunctional culture throughout the entire organization. Now that he is playing for a team that is successful, Surratt has won the Super Bowl four years into his career as a professional football player.
