On Sunday night, the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks confronted each other in Super Bowl 60. This was a replay of the game that took place eleven years earlier, when New England emerged victorious in a dramatic finale.

Three former North Carolina Tar Heels, Drake Maye, Mack Hollins, and Chazz Surratt, will be competing against each other in this year’s matchup. In terms of MVP voting, Maye, the quarterback for the Patriots, came in second place, behind only Matthew Stafford. On the other hand, Surratt is mostly a linebacker for special teams for Seattle, while Hollins is a wide receiver for the New England Patriots.

A significant portion of Super Bowl 60 was dominated by the Seahawks, up until the beginning of the fourth quarter. During the final two minutes and thirty-three seconds of the game, Maye completed a touchdown pass to Hollins that covered 35 yards, bringing the Patriots’ score to 19-7.

As a form of retribution for a disastrous conclusion in 2015, Seattle emerged victorious in the Super Bowl with a score of 29-13.

A spectacular throw was finally made by Maye, who had been sacked six times by Seattle in the Big Game. Maye finally had enough time to complete the ball. Hollins made a fantastic play, managed to keep possession of the football, and allowed the New England fans to breathe a sigh of ease.

Fans of the University of North Carolina tuned in to watch Maye in particular, with the expectation that the second-year quarterback would deliver a victory of monumental proportions.

During his nine years in the National Football League, Hollins had what is considered to be the best regular season of his career. He caught 46 passes for 550 yards and two scores. When Hollins entered Super Bowl 60, he had only two receptions for 51 yards throughout the postseason. However, he provided his biggest moment on the most prestigious platform in professional football, leading the Patriots with 78 yards on four receptions.

The regular season that Maye had is one that will be remembered for a very long time: he threw for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns, and a completion rate of 77.1%. He had a poor performance in the Super Bowl, which included six sacks and three turnovers, including a fumble that was recovered by Seattle for a score in the fourth quarter of the game. However, the postseason was not as kind to him as the regular season had been.
