Kendall Wells Hits 2 HRs as Oklahoma Dominates Ole Miss 10-0 – Game Recap
The Oklahoma Sooners defeated the Ole Miss Rebels by a score of 10-0 in the first game of their three-game series, which took place in Oxford, Mississippi. This victory brought the Sooners’ overall record to 30-2 and their SEC record to 4-0.
After pitching five innings without allowing a single run to score, Audrey Lowry improved her record to 14-1. During those innings, she allowed only four baserunners, including two singles, and she did not permit any runner to advance to third base. Through her combination of speeds and locations, she has managed to throw batters off balance. Behind her, the Oklahoma defense delivered a solid performance, committing no mistakes and playing a clean game. An additional scoreless inning was thrown by Allyssa Parker, a freshman, in the sixth inning to bring the victory to a close.
With a fielder’s choice that resulted in a run scored by Abby Dayton in the second inning, the Sooners got the scoring started early. With her 15th home run of the season, Ella Parker tied a career high and solidified her position as the leader of the team. In the fifth inning, Kendall Wells hit the first of two home runs, bringing the Sooners to a perfect score of 4-0. This was the first of two home runs that Wells hit in the game. With an RBI single, Parker brought the score to 5-0.
During the sixth quarter, the Sooners succeeded in entering the domain of run-rule rule. By scoring Sydney Barker and bringing the score to 6-0, Dayton once again shown her prowess by delivering her eleventh double of the season. On a pitch that was 3-0, Wells hit her second home run of the day, which resulted in a three-run home run. Wells finished the day with five runs batted in. The score was now 9-0 as a result. As a result of Parker’s sacrifice fly, she increased her total number of runs batted in to ten.
Among the Sooners, Parker, Wells, Isabela Emerling, and Kai Minor each had a day with multiple hits. The Sooners finished with a total of ten hits, five of which were for extra bases. During the course of the day, Gabbie Garcia made three trips to the base of the plate and scored two runs.
At this point, Oklahoma has won 19 games in a row and has acquired 24 victories with the use of run rule.
Sunday at six o’clock in the evening Central Time, the Sooners and Rebels will resume their competition in Oxford, Mississippi. Miali Guachino, a former pitcher for the University of Mississippi, is expected to receive the start for the Sooners when she travels back to Oxford.
