Travis Pastrana Returns to Drive in NASCAR Daytona Truck Series Race
The action sports icon ravis Pastrana, who is more well recognized for his ability to make stunts happen in films rather than for his ability to jump over obstacles and slide in dirt, has returned to the NASCAR circuit. For the time being, at least.
In the first race of the Craftsman Truck Series, which will take place at Daytona International Speedway on Friday night, Pastrana will be competing in a truck owned by Niece Motorsports. The race will be Pastrana’s first outing in NASCAR since 2023, when he competed in the Daytona 500, which was his last Cup Series event, and in one Truck race. He competed in the whole O’Reilly Series in 2013, and it was through this experience that he came to the conclusion that stock car racing was not likely to be a suitable full-time adventure for him.
After Niece’s multi-truck company presented Pastrana with the opportunity to participate in the Daytona ride, Pastrana did not hesitate to take advantage of the sponsorship prospects.
By saying, “It’s really wild coming down here to see the family, the camaraderie, and knowing so many of the crews and drivers and everybody, this whole NASCAR community,” Pastrana referred to the experience of coming down here. It’s a lot of fun really. During the few years that I was not competing in NASCAR, all of my buddies were on the verge of experiencing depression. Simply said, I adore being in the vicinity of the tracks, and I adore any and all aspects of it.
“Not only is it an incredible sport, but it is also a lot more difficult and a lot more stressful than you could ever imagine watching television,” an individual said.
Both motocross and rally racing were areas in which Pastrana excelled, and he also participated in powerboat competition. In the past, he has been known to accept challenges that include racing vehicles.
It was then that he admitted, “Look, I’m not the best pavement driver.” I was a motocross rider earlier. For the rally, I went. When I am slanting, I enjoy it. Generally speaking, restrictor plate racing is a skill set that differentiates the drivers from one another. When I was competing in the Daytona 500, I had a guide that was a couple hundred pages long that detailed where I should be, how to slow down other drivers, how to speed up myself, and how to bump right. When you are driving, you are attempting to drive perfectly, to hit your line, to get to the person you are trying to pass at the right time, and all the while, you are paying attention to who is behind you and who is surrounding you. As fast as two hundred miles per hour, it’s a game of chess.
“Anyone who tells you that that is not frightening is an idiot,” the speaker said. As a result, it was fantastic.
Over the course of his career, which has encompassed a wide range of motorsports, Pastrana, who is now 42 years old, has sustained a laundry list of injuries. The exception to this rule has been his participation in NASCAR. According to him, “I’ve had some good bell-ringers out there, for sure, but there haven’t been any major injuries.”
