Joe Hendry Defends WWE NXT Championship for First Time vs EVOLVE Star

Joe Hendry met and defeated his first challenger, Jackson Drake, on “WWE NXT.” Unfortunately for Hendry, the celebration did not continue for very long. Hendry’s victory came just one week after he won the NXT Championship. At the beginning of this week’s episode of “NXT,” Hendry made a commitment to the brand that he would use his reign as NXT Champion to raise it to new heights. In addition, he reflected about the previous week’s arduous ladder battle, in which Ricky Saints came dangerously close to winning the title that was vacant at the time. However, the screams of the crowd inspired him to take Saints out just in the nick of time. Vanity Project’s Ricky Smokes, Brad Baylor, and Jackson Drake arrived at the scene, and they proceeded to make fun of Hendry for his humorous viral moments and his “mid” appeal as champion. Vanity Project, according to Drake, was also involved for the recent attack on Hendry because they felt disrespected by him.

Hendry was the victim of the incident. In an effort to repay Drake for his assistance, Hendry announced that he will defend his NXT Championship against Drake, who is currently the EVOLVE Champion, and that he would knock Drake down in the process. His mission was accomplished when Hendry defeated Drake with a chokeslam and a powerbomb, so retaining the NXT Championship. This was the culmination of Hendry’s journey. However, when Hendry was celebrating his victory after the fight, a man wearing a hood suddenly attacked him with a barrage of punches. It was subsequently determined that the figure in question was Ricky Saints, who proceeded to drop Hendry with a tornado DDT before posing with the championship in question. Saints is a former NXT Champion, having defeated Oba Femi in a title match at “NXT” No Mercy. Saints’ unseated victory earned him the title. Later on, in December, he made the decision to hand the championship back to Femi. As this article is being written, it is not certain whether or not the Saints will have an opportunity to win back the championship by playing Hendry.
