Sacramento has signed the former Most Valuable Player to a veteran-minimum contract.

The Sacramento Kings have agreed to terms with Russell Westbrook on a one-year contract worth $3.6 million, which is the veteran’s minimum. It is anticipated that he will return to the team later on this week.

Westbrook and the Kings were reportedly in frequent communication with one another over the offseason, as reported by Shams Charania of ESPN. In the 18th season of his career, Westbrook will be playing for his seventh different franchise. He will be a member of the team that also includes Dennis Schroder, DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Domantas Sabonis.

With the Denver Nuggets, Westbrook played in 75 games and made 36 starts during the previous season. He finished with an average of 13.3 points, 6.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.4 steals while shooting 44.9% from the basketball court.

Because of his extraordinary career, Westbrook’s game has been characterized by an unprecedented level of athleticism and energy, which has made him an unquestionable candidate for the Hall of Fame on the first vote. Following his time spent playing for the UCLA Bruins, he was taken by the Seattle SuperSonics with the fourth overall choice in the 2008 NBA draft. The SuperSonics then moved their franchise to Oklahoma City and became known as the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Alongside Kevin Durant and James Harden, they were the driving force behind the team’s run to the NBA Finals in 2012, when they were ultimately defeated by the Miami Heat.

While he was winning the Most Valuable Player award for the 2016-2017 season, he made history by becoming the first player since Oscar Robertson to average a triple-double. Since then, he has accomplished this accomplishment a record-breaking four times. The nine-time All-NBA selection, the two-time NBA scoring champion, the three-time assists leader, and the all-time leader in career triple-doubles for the National Basketball Association are all accomplishments that Westbrook has achieved. He is also a part of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.

The Houston Rockets, the Washington Wizards, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Denver Nuggets are some of the teams that Westbrook has previously played for.
