According to the Washington Post, Miami police are allegedly looking for former NFL player Antonio Brown to apprehend him on a charge of attempted murder with a pistol. The indictment stems from a fight that broke out during a boxing event in Miami in May.

According to a warrant that the Washington Post was able to obtain, Brown must post $10,000 in bond and remain under house arrest pending trial. The Washington Post reports that although a court authorized the order on Wednesday, efforts to contact Brown on Thursday night were futile.

When a gunshot detection system alerted police to the event on May 16, they arrived at approximately midnight.

According to the warrant, an off-duty security guard at the event reported to police that he witnessed Brown and a man getting into a violent argument. According to witnesses, Brown was the shooter. When police patted Brown down, they discovered an empty gun holster and two used round shells, but he had no weapon on him.

The following day, Brown wrote on X that he had been “jumped” by someone attempting to take his jewels. Police escorted Brown away in handcuffs, but the former wide receiver said he was not arrested and was only being held to give police his story. When Brown was free, he went back to the event.

According to the request, investigators discovered video evidence that appeared to show Brown punching someone else and starting a brawl. Later, the film seemed to show Brown taking a security guard’s gun and sprinting back to the person he had first struck. The accuser ducked as Brown approached the alleged victim, and cell phone footage shows two gunshots.

Five days later, the alleged victim, who claimed to have known Brown since 2022, told police that Brown had run toward him brandishing the revolver and had fired twice at him, maybe grazing his neck, in violation of the warrant. Brown left once the police arrived after the two struggled over the pistol. The hospital treated the accuser.

In 2021, Brown, a seven-time Pro Bowler with numerous off-field problems, played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before notoriously tearing off his pads and abandoning the club mid-game.

He has had other legal problems in the years thereafter. After reportedly attacking a moving truck driver in 2020, Brown paid out $1.2 million to the driver less than a year after his final NFL game. Two months later, he was accused of domestic abuse, but the allegations were ultimately withdrawn. His failure to pay child support led to his imprisonment in 2023.

Aside from his legal issues, Brown filed for bankruptcy last year and destroyed a National Arena League team in 2023.
